Mother’s Day is an amazing day that most of us love celebrating! However, sometimes it can be hard to come up with meaningful gift ideas, especially on a budget. I also try to make sure it’s something useful and not just something that will sit on a shelf. I’ve put together a little gift guide of gift’s we’ve done in the past that cost us under $30.
- When my first was only a few months old, I gifted all of the grandmothers and great-grandmother’s wine glasses with their grandmother name on them. I purchased the big stemless wine glasses from the dollar store and got a local girl with a cricut to make and apply their names in a pretty gold script. I added mini wine bottles and some candy to them as well.
- Child painted mug – A few years ago, we visited Glazed Over in Ocean City, New Jersey. It is a pottery studio where you can paint your own pieces and then they fire them for you to be picked up the next week. They have some amazing pieces there for all budgets. I let my then 2.5 year old paint mugs for all the grandmothers, and great-grandmother’s in our family. After he did a nice base coat, I had him put his handprint or footprint on the mug and my then 6 month old’s footprint on it. I turned the handprints or footprints into shapes like fish for the grandmas who like the beach and butterflies for others. You can find some cute ideas on Pinterest. The mugs cost me around $20. Then, I filled them with coffee or tea and candy.
- Child painted jewelry dish – The next year I visited the same pottery studio. This time I picked up some small square jewelry dishes. My older two boys painted the base coats with help from me. Then, I had my three boys use their fingerprints (or toe prints for my then 1 month old). We used them to create things like the sun, butterflies, and flowers.
- This year I did cute personalized wooden spoons from A Few Spare Moments on Etsy. The packaging and branding was super cute and I didn’t even need to wrap anything! The shop owner was also accommodating to personalizations. She has other super cute items for those with bigger budgets that I will definitely be purchasing in the future such as cutting boards, measuring cups and measuring spoons.
- These tea towels from Porter Lane Home on Etsy were also the perfect gift to coordinate with the wooden spoons. This shop owner was also super accommodating to personalizations.
BONUS GIFT IDEA – Moms are often the ones taking the picture. Gift the mothers and/or grandmothers in your life with a very special Motherhood session. Motherhood sessions can be booked at any time, for any time. They are short and sweet at only 20 minutes in duration and include 5 digital images for only $199!
